'Bella' - Light Installation

For Light Night Nottingham 2017, Sarah created an upcycled light installation made from hundreds of waste plastic bottles. The installation was exhibited at Nottingham Trent University in a fantastic space, the atrium of the Newton Building.


Sarah had been involved in many projects in the Trash to Treasure Festival which are being lauched at Light Night Nottingham, Friday 5th Feb 2016.

Butterfly Canvases - till 26th March

Sarah was commissioned by Nottingham City Council to create three canvases made from waste cans. Each butterfly was cut from a colourful can collected by local homes and businesses. They are on display for the whole festival at Sobar, Friar Lane.


Lantern Parade - 5th February from 6pm

14 schools have taken part in Sarah's Light Night lantern workshop. Hundreds of primary school children have each made a lantern made from a milk bottle and other waste materials. They are lit by a bright white LED light and will look fantastic in the lantern parade on Light Night, February 5th 2016.


Recycle Deluxe Student Exhibition - till 26th March

Decorative Arts students from Nottingham Trent University have been making new works of art and products from rubbish. The second year students worked in groups to create their upcycled creations with Sarah as their tutor. Their work is exhibited in this exhibition in the Broadmarsh Centre till the end of March.


Artist Talks, City Arts - Thursday 18th February

Joined by artists Anna Roebuck, Aimee Bollu and Maggie Cullen Sarah will be speaking at the talk entitled, 'All about... Art from Waste' at City Arts on Thursday 18th February. 


The Dragon - February and March

Another opportunity to see Sarah's upcycled dragon made with the help of the young people of Newstead. He will be on display for Light Night at Sneinton Market and from the 19th February will be at City Arts, Hockley.


Meet the Maker, Made in Nottingham - 5th February till 9pm.

Made in Nottingham will be open late for Light Night giving you the opportunity to meet the makers behind the creative work for sale.


Our pop up shop Made in Nottingham is back and it's here to stay!

The designers from Made in Nottingham are back in the Broadmarsh centre. A large selection of Sarah's work is for sale including some lovely new upcycled items not yet available online. So make sure you stop by, ground floor of the Broadmarsh Centre.


The young people of Newstead help Sarah to make an upcycled dragon.

CDs, plastic bottles, drinks lids, soda cans and phone top up cards were some of the many recycled materials which were used to create the dragon. 

The dragon was then displayed at the Newstead Bonfire Night.  The illuminated dragon looked great with the spectacular fireworks.   The dragon is now going on a tour so look out for him in the future!


A bespoke can picture and daffodils for the Rugby World Cup

Sarah made a bespoke picture in the form of the Rugby World Cup ball. Thousands of circles and rings were cut from waste Coca-Cola cans to create the rugby ball form.

The picture is displayed in the Coca-Cola pub at Twickenham. As well as the picture, Sarah made daffodils in the Coca-Cola colours for the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff.



Sarah's stand at the Glastonbury Festival wins the Green Traders Gold Award for Sustainability

The judges decided that we were the most sustainable stand at the Glastonbury Festival and the prize is a free stand at next years festival.

We are so proud to have been awarded the Green Traders Gold Award and super excited to be returning to Glastonbury 2016!



Sarah travels to Azerbaijan to take part in the From Waste to Art Exhibition in Baku.

She was amoungst the 25 lucky artists selected from around the world to travel to Baku and take part in this project. Each artist created works from their chosen waste materials during the week with the culmination of the event being the opening of the museum where the works are now permanently housed.


Thousands of plastic bottles flowers lit up a tree at St Mary's church for Light Night Nottingham 2015

Sarah handmade each of the stunning flowers from a waste plastic bottle. Each unique plastic bottle flower was lit up by a white LED light and shone brightly in the lovely magnolia tree in the church grounds.

Approximately 4000 people visited the light installation over the course of the evening. The installation will be displayed at future events so keep checking the website for more info.


School children celebrate Diwali by making hundreds of plastic bottle lotus flowers and float them on the lake in Nottingham

Sarah visited 17 schools in Nottingham and gave workshops to the children, teaching them how to make floating lotus flowers from waste plastic bottles.

The children and visitors were then able to launch a recycled plastic bottle flower at the lake on the night.


Sarah creates beautiful new products at the Braderie de l'Art in Roubaix, France.

Sarah was one of the 150 artists to travel to Roubaix, France for their annual Braderie de l'Art, a 24 hour non-stop creative recycling event. Sarah was able to make new creations from materials found in their warehouse full of junk!

For Coventry's Godiva Festival, Sarah created a stunning elephant sculpture with the help of the festival visitors, 5-6th July 2014

'Emily the Elephant' was made from around 900 plastic bottles with each one being decorated with care by the hundreds of workshop participants which visited the Make Space Tent over the weekend.

Emily will be exhibited again soon, keep checking the website for updates.


A massive display of Sarah's work will the on show at the Plastics Recycling Expo, Telford Centre - 18th - 19th June 2014

Sarah will be exhibiting a large selection of her work and past projects including the Bottle Family. So hopefully see you there!


Grand Designs Live have chosen another of Sarah's designs to feature in their London show - 3rd - 11th May 2014

Sarah has made a new light especially for the show called the Venus 30, so if you are visiting the show then pop by the 'Tech Box' to take a look.


Sarah has been commissioned by Nottingham City Council to make a Life-sized WW1 Tank for Light Night - 28th February 2014

The tank will be made from waste plastic collected by local people and schools. Sarah will be visiting 10 local schools where the students will be making parts of the tank from the rubbish they have collected. The tank will be illuminated and on display at Nottingham Castle.

A large selection of Sarah's work will be sold at The Nottingham Creative Quarter Pop Up Centre - November 6th till January 2014

As well as exhibiting her brand new design Nova, Sarah has a large selection of her work for sale in the shop. This includes Zade table lamps, Plastic Bottle Flowers, Offcut Angels, lots of lampshades plus some new work which isn't on the website yet! So make sure if you are in Nottingham you pop by for some gorgeous upcycled Christmas gifts!

Sarah will be making some of her work at the shop most Saturdays so if you would like to meet then please contact us to check what times and dates she will be there.

'Nova', Sarah's latest chandelier design has been chosen by Grand Designs Live to feature in their Eco Tech House - October 2013

The chandelier is huge at 1.2 metres wide and is made from 250 plastic bottles. The bottles are sandblasted, hand cut then melted which makes them resemble glass. It's named 'Nova' as it resembles a star exploding like a Supernova!

Nova will be displayed right in the centre of the Eco-Tech house built inside the
Birmingham NEC. The Eco-Tech House will give visitors an interactive walk through experience showing that it is possible to stay eco-friendly without compromising your love of design and cutting-edge technology.

The show is on from the 4th - 6th October so please pay us a visit.


Visit Tent London and see some of Sarah’s plastic bottle creations - September 2013

Once again Sarah will be exhibiting a selection of her work and launching some brand new designs at Tent London during this years London Design Festival.

As well as exhibiting her new work, Sarah will also be making one of her designs on the stand, so you will get the chance to see a behind the scenes glimpse of the making process!

The dates are 19th - 22nd September and the stand number is H03.

Register on the Tent Website before Friday 13th September to gain free entry.


Fifty Plastic Bottle Flowers are on display at the National Centre of Craft and Design, Sleaford - July/August 2013

The flowers are to celebrate the centres 10th Anniversary and are on sale for £15 each. So pay the centre a visit to see the flowers and the fantastic exhibitions they have on at the moment. www.nationalcraftanddesign.org.uk


Sarah will be featured on Channel 4's programme Four Rooms this Friday! - July 12th 2013

The dealers will be bidding for one of Sarah's plastic bottle creations. Make sure you watch Channel 4 at 8pm this Friday 12th July.


Sarah is flying to Atlanta to make a sculpture for the Coca Cola Cafe at the Chick-fil-A Leadercast! - May 2013

Coca Cola is the main sponsor of the annual Chick-fil-A Leadercast event in Atlanta and this year have commissioned Sarah to create a sculpture from Coca Cola cans and bottles. After preparing the bottles and cans here in the UK, Sarah will be making the piece at the event in front of the visitors.

The making of the sculpture can be seen on the Facebook Page. The event is on the 10th May so photos of the final piece can be seen after then.






Ecobuild at ExCel London commission Sarah to create a massive chandelier made from melted plastic bottles - March 2013

The Cafe of the annual Ecobuild exhibition will be lit up by Sarah's 1.5 metre wide plastic bottle chandelier.

Sarah handmade the piece by melting 250 plastic bottles and assembling them into a massive sphere. A smaller free standing version was also made and will be exhibited at the show as well.

Sarah also has an exhibition stand, the show dates are Tuesday 5th March to Thursday 7th March and her stand number is S755. Entry to the exhibition is free when you register on the website, www.ecobuild.co.uk

Another chance to see Sarah's Plastic Bottle Family! - 8th February 2013

After the success of last year, Nottingham Light Night is back this Friday 8th February and the Bottle Family will be illuminating the streets once again.

The bottle parent, bottle kids and bottle dog will be on display in Market Square, if you would like to pay them a visit from 6pm till late.

The Bottle Family are now on display permanently at the Nottingham Tourist Centre in Market Square.

Sarah hand made an 8ft tall Christmas Tree from 400 plastic bottles - November 2012

The tree was commissioned by Falkirk Community Trust and is now installed at Calender House for the whole festive period.

Coca Cola has commissioned Sarah to make lighting and sculpture for the Olympic Games - July 2012

Sarah has designed and made bespoke lighting and a massive 9 metre tall sculpture which has been installed at the Coca Cola Hospitality Centre at the Olympic Park!

For the past 2 months Sarah has been busy making a bottle parent, bottle children and a bottle dog for Light Night Nottingham, February 10th 2012.

Interiors 2012 - 22 to 25 Janurary

Sarah is exhibiting with Designers Block at Interiors for the 2nd year. This year Designers Block have created a Design Village where visitors can find inspiration, meet designers and see the latest on-trend designs.

Sarah has a selection of work on display including Ella in the centre of the Village Local Pub. A few lamps also made their way into the VIP room.

Ella wins an award at the Nottingham Castle Annual Open - October 2011

The Annual Open is a regular feature of the Castle's programme since 1878, around 1000 artworks were submitted and Sarah's lighting piece 'Ella' was amongst the 65 selected.

Awards were also given at the private view and we are pleased to say that Sarah was a proud recipient of one! Many thanks to the Design Factory who sponsored Sarah's award.


London Design Festival - September 2011

Sarah will be exhibiting a selection of her work at this years Tent London during the design festival from 22 - 25 September 2011. Sarah's beautiful eco lights are well worth seeing in real life so please feel free to pop by!

Also Sarah will be giving workshops at 100% design on Friday 23 September where participants will get to make their own plastic bottle creation.

SodaStream uses Sarah Turner’s recycled bottle sculpture in their latest campaign with British super model Erin O’Connor

The huge sphere Sarah handmade from 562 recycled plastic bottles was perfect to help communicate the message of 'A World Without Bottles' for Sodastream.  British supermodel Erin O’Connor holds the sphere symbolically on her shoulders, recreating the iconic pose of Greek God Atlas, highlighting the burden of the world's plastic bottle waste.

Sodastream’s campaign aims to reduce the amount of plastic bottles people buy, therefore reducing the amount that end up getting thrown away.

Pulse - 5th - 7th June 2011

We are pleased to announce that Sarah will be exhibiting a selection of her work at both Pulse in June and Tent in September during this years London Design Festival.

Her drinks bottle lights were selected by design collective 5ml to be part of their stand at both shows.

Pulse is coming up first at Earls Court London, then Tent at the Old Truman Brewery, we hope to see you there!





Ideal Home Show - 18th - 27th March 2011

Sarah has been commissioned by the Ideal Home Show to create a large ceiling pendant from waste plastic bottles. Named 'Ella', the piece reuses 310 bottle bases and is over 1 metre wide.

The piece is being displayed in their Open Plan Living House, one of three full sized model show homes. Sarah's work has also been chosen to be a design feature of the Gregg Wallace Master Chef restaurant. The Cola, Sprite and Soda ranges will light up the bar of the restaurant.

  London Fashion Week    

London Fashion Week - 18th - 25th February 2011

The British Fashion Council have commissioned Sarah to create an installation for the exhibition at London Fashion week.

The stunning installation is made up of ten white pieces all made from discarded plastic bottles. The Cola 30 takes centre stage with the other nine pieces clustered around it. Three table and floor lamps also made their way into the exclusive Buyers Lounge.


Christmas Light Installation 'Twitter Ball' - Dec 2010 to Jan 2011

Commissioned by Design company Sennep, this giant tweet-reactive bauble, flashes different colours when selected words from Cohn&Wolfe's holiday message are tweeted.

The huge sphere reuses 562 plastic bottles, and was handmade by Sarah in her studio in Nottingham.

Braderie de l'Art - Roubaix, France - December 2010

150 internationals artists, designers, graffiti artists, painters and sculptors selected by a jury, visit Roubaix to transform used objects and materials into art pieces.

An absolutely crazy, fantastic event where for 36 hours non-stop Sarah made lighting from waste materials found in a warehouse of junk and rubbish.

Midlands Green Hero at Grand Designs Live - October 2010

Kevin McCloud of Channel Four's Grand Designs selected Sarah as a 'Green Hero'. She will therefore be exhibiting a selection of her drinks bottle lights at Grand Designs Live at the Birmingham NEC from 8th - 10th October.

So make sure you pay her a visit in the Design Arcade.



Maison et Objet, Paris - September 2010

Sarah will be exhibiting a selection of her lights at this great exhibition in the north of Paris 3rd - 7th September 2010.

French company Po! Paris invited her to exhibit her work on their stand and will then be showing them at Abitare Il Tempo in Verona later on in the month.

Inhabitat Competition Winner! - June 2010

Sarah's eco lamps were selected as one of the finalists along with 22 other designers in Inhabitat's annual Spring Greening Competition. She is proud to announce that the online vote declared Sarah the winner. Thank you very much to those who voted.

Inhabitat have now invited her to exhibit her work on their stand at the Dwell on Design exhibition in LA.
